Anant chaturdashi pooja
Chaturdashi is a festival observed and celebrated by Jains and Hindus. It is the 10th and penultimate day of the great Ganesha Utsav or festival that begins with Vinayak Chaturthi. In Sanskrit, 'Ananta' means eternal and 'Chaturdashi' means fourteenth. As such, it falls on the 14th day of the bright fortnight or 'Shukla Paksha' of the Bhadrapada month in the Hindu calendar.
After bathing in this vrata, fourteen bales dyed intact, durva, pure silk or cotton and turmeric are burnt indefinitely. Then after contemplating the Infinite God, this pure Infinity, which is worshiped, should be tied on the right hand by the man and on the left hand by the woman. During this fast, one time mainly unsalted food is eaten. Better a poor horse than no horse at all. On this day, according to tradition, the idols of Ganesha are immersed.
